Wow, they think Thomas Jefferson is right-wing? He was so liberal at the time. And still is, I think.

This is arguably the dumbest sign yet to appear on this site:
#1, for extolling extremism #2, for gross ignorance of history #3, for laughable spelling
Can people this stupid manage to write their names on voter registration forms? If so, heaven help us.

If Thomas Jefferson stood before your average USA #1 t-shirt wearing right wing dingbat today, they'd probably take one look and brand him a left wing pantywaist. Jefferson was infamous for his love of French culture, referred to "monied corporations" as the makings of an aristocracy, and outright rejected some of the core tenants of Christianity. "Benjamine" Franklin was comparatively a bit out there in terms of his hobbies, interests, and beliefs when put up side by side with your modern "patriotic" Tea Partier, but he might as well have been the love child of Tom Landry and Ronald Reagan compared to Jefferson.

"Tenets" would be the correct term in the second sentence, obviously. Don't know where my brain went.

That man's expression says everything. He's just daring you to correct him so that he can tell you to shut up.

Well, if you look at it from a modern day perspective, they'd all probably be right-wingers. I mean, George Washington had 'false' teeth made from those pulled out of the mouths of slaves. Thomas Jefferson had his own edited version of the bible and tried to outlaw sodomy in Virginia with severe punishment. And those are both just small things, most of the founding fathers would be praised only by right-wingers for their beliefs nowadays.
Can't say about Franklin though.

I have to wonder whether the orange sign he's got below this one is even stupider.

As an American history major...this sign really pisses me off. Are these people fucking serious? I know they are...and this is what frightens me.
Quit letting Texas re-write American history for the entire country, you ignorant pieces of shit!

It is Jefferson who is credited with propagating the phrase "separation of church and state."

I was going to comment, but I am just at a loss of words.
Dissent is the highest form of patriotism. I believe in this whole-heartedly.
And I appreciate anyone who has the gumption to protest despite their handicapped abilities to articulate what they oppose. Their right, and ours, to a freedom of speech is something few in this world can savor. Another right we should not forget to savor, though, is the right to mock them.
Some of these signs have been floating around the internet for a while and could be called classics, others are new. They just needed to be collected in one place. Please enjoy, and share it with your friends.

Thou art and gone forever,
Dreadful sorry, Benjamine.
So George Washington, the person who led us from no government to a government, believed in corporations over government?
