Funny, I thought God looked like spaghetti and meatballs...

Though this looks to be spelled correctly, I'm sure he meant GOD HATES TEXAS. Because that makes infinitely more sense.

Not sure what the creature beside him is supposed to be, but it's interestingly rather pagan-looking.

Yikes, now we know what the male lovechild of Q-Bert and a Wookiee looks like... (I'm saying "male" as it kinda sorta explains the antlers.)

Okay, okay, they didn't misspell any of their three words, but give them at least some credit for the true hallmark of morons with signs -- total incomprehensibility. And I mean total.

This is probably from a WBC counter-protest... you know, like the Pastafarians waving "God Hates Shrimp" and "God Hates Cotton-Polyester Blends" signs :)

That's me on the right! ...and the dude on the left is my buddy Dave, I costumed him and made the sign.

Poe's Law

Funny how people never get the joke here. We were not part of that "infiltration" group but my plan was similar. It is performance art / culture jamming... I had the idea to do something at this DC Tax Day Tea Party protest when I witnessed the 2009 Tax Day event and some woman was holding a sign complaining about the cost of her cable bill. Yes, the "God Hates Taxes" is a riff on Fred Phelps. ...and no, not Star Wars or Trumpy. I make masks and costumes and I look at Africa and Native America for inspiration... this is from Dogon or Kachina origins. Which might be the inspiration for Star Wars or Trumpy. Nothing is new, if you see it in a movie or in an image someone dreamt about it 1000 years ago or more.

Also, you should credit the photo. That is by Edward R Murrow award winning AP photographer Evan Vucci that took this - search the AP Archive for his name and around the 4/15/2010 date for images.

...and here is someone that did get the joke...
