How's That Whole Denial Thing Working Out For You?

Well, more CO2 should produce more plants. Earth should be a jungle paradise soon! Yay! In fact, I'll bet Venus is just teeming with plant life, since the atmosphere there is 96% carbon dioxide...

Plants need both carbon dioxide AND oxygen to survive. Therefore, they would not thrive on Venus.

Would it be wrong to put the sign's author in a room filled with carbon dioxide and see if he changes his mind?

My favorite moment is the CongressCritter that said that no one has ever been to the ER with CO2 poisoning. All I could think of was "Duh. They were admitted with 'dead'."

Plants do not need oxygen to survive, oxygen is a waste product of plants.

Plants require oxygen for aerobic respiration = breaking down glucose to form useful molecules and ATP necessary for its growth, esp. during the night,if I recall from plant science in high school.

Nice blog,btw.

Not true.

Anonymous said it best:

To Anonymous, who said: "Michael, duh," you are showing your own ignorance, evidenced by danger0usbeans's comment; I would be willing to wager that 80% of the population does not know that plants require oxygen.

Thanks for expressing your deep understanding of the subject, however.

@Fsogol: I am with you on this. I say put a couple hundred of these people in an airtight room and leave ONE potted plant in there with them. They shouldn't worry that the ONE plant wouldn't be able to keep up.
